The LG E-906 Windows Phone: Design by Jil Sander

LG WIndows Phone?

I’m an LG fan. I like a lot of what they do. Their product line and branding are good and they maintain consistent standards in all their products.

LG or as they used to be known Lucky Goldstar are a Korean industrial giant.

Their mobile and particularly smartphone offerings seem to have garnered a good following and now they have released their second Windows Phone. This is the LG E-906 with the Windows Phone Mango 7.5 OS on.

LG took a leaf out of companies like Microsoft and employed a famous designer, Jil Sander to create the way the phone looks.

Sander best known as a fashion designer and with a chain of her own contributed a thin, sleek phone in an elegant blue case, specialty ear phones and an App onboard the phone to connect to her Design House. The app is certainly a nice piece of viral / reciprocal marketing.

Again the only place I have found to pre-order the phone; whose release date is anytime now is the great Expansys . Normally I get a nice email about new products on the site but I actually stumbled across this whilst looking for something else. The phone retails at £299.99 which for it’s spec (the whopping 16Gb storage like the Nokia Lumia 800) places it somewhere between the Nokia Lumia 800 and the HTC Radar. That is purely a hardware comparison.

The phone is an upgraded LG Optimus 7 with a stylish design but that is once again drawn from looking at the few image I could find of the phone. I would love to get hands on and examine the phone: even the simple things like call quality.

In a nutshell this is an interesting offering from LG to keep their toes in the WIndows Phone 7 pond. It seems well priced and offers an eye-catching design for a consumer who may not be fond of the Nokia brand.

All in all a prospective win for LG’s mobile division.
